STEM Innovate 2026 is a 5‑hour student‑led web development hackathon organized by the STEM Society of American National College, which is designed to push the limits of innovation, teamwork and real-world problem solving.
Participants will build functional web applications within a limited timeframe based on real-world problem themes. The event focuses on creativity, technical execution and practical impact, bridging the gap between academic learning and industry expectations.

Participants arrive and register. Opening remarks by STEM Society President and Project Chairperson.
Introduction of hackathon rules, judging criteria, and problem statements.
Teams begin developing their solutions. Mentors circulate to provide feedback and technical guidance.
Participants break for lunch and informal networking.
Teams continue refining their projects and preparing their final presentations.
Each team presents their project to the judging panel (5–7 minutes each).
Judges review projects and finalize scores while participants network.
Announcement of winners, closing remarks, and group photo session.
2–3 minutes per team. Focus: idea + basic working demo. Top teams shortlisted for finals.
5–7 minutes per team. Includes Q&A session with judges. Final evaluation and ranking.

University students from any state or private university in Sri Lanka. Open to all levels of experience.
Teams must consist of 3–5 members.
Rs.850 per participant (Early bird is Rs.500 per person). This covers refreshments, certificate and event materials.
Yes, AI tools are allowed but participants must understand and be able to explain any AI-generated code. Transparency is key.

Yes! One of our main objectives is to provide internship opportunities and professional exposure. High potential developers may be identified for placement post-event.
